7m old baby, nasty cold + choking at night

DS is 7 months, he's had a nasty cold for well over 2 weeks now (started as sore throat, then mucus, coughing etc) he's ever so bunged up and snuffly despite using saline spray and bogey sucker regularly. We've been giving him calpol on and off and he's had borderline high temps here and there the whole time (37.5, 37.8 etc) we've elevated his cot, rubbed snuffle baby on his chest, baby olbas in a humidifier etc.

Last night he was sound asleep one min and the next minute it sounded like he was choking or gasping for air. I ran in and picked him up - he cried and was then fine. Still bunged up but fine.

Now I'm really concerned he perhaps choked on the mucus from his cold. Should I take him to the GP, seeing as its been going on so long? He doesn't seem to be getting any better, although I'm sure its better for his immune system to fight it itself.

Yes, take him to the gp, it's not worth the risk.

I’d take him to the GP too OP. Colds generally last 3 days.

Lots of awful viruses around at the moment; I'd take to the Gp tomorrow.
Temperature at 37.8 is nothin g too much to worry about - it's the body fighting it.

Be regular with the calpol and calprofen (calpols version of ibuprofen), as per instructions for age and doseages
