Baby refusing milk

Bowejangles · 26/08/2018 00:26

7 months old, has been sleeping through since 4 1/2 months until now

He's weaned onto solids since this he is refusing milk regularly and not drinking full bottles

Due to the fact he's not drinking more than half of his bed time bottle he's waking up in the small hours, hungry

Any ideas?

It’s always hard when they’ve slept and suddenly they’re waking. Are you offering solids roughly an hour after milk and are you offering solids just twice a day?

We do a milk breakfast bottle

Lunch (solids and milk)

Finger foods to snack on between meals

Home cooked meal for tea

Evening snack (biscotti or rice cake)

Bed time bottle

I think it’s the amount of solids if I’m honest. The current NHS guidelines are “to build up to offering solids 3 times a day between 8 and 9 months”. At 7 months Milk is the priority really. Could you cut back on the number of times you’re offering them? If you’re not happy to reduce the amount of meals, maybe stop the snacks? Usually 3 meals and snacks is more common when they’re getting nearer to one.

Something like this might work:

7am bottle
8am breakfast
11 am bottle
12 noon lunch
3pm bottle
5pm tea
7pm bottle
