As of a week ago my dd settled do easily in her cot. Now she screams for about 1 hour - no idea what to do! Don't remember this with ds

I wouldn't let her scream for an hour in a cot. Pick her up, soothe her? Is she tired enough? Is it time for her to go in a proper bed?

Seperation anxiety? Can she share a room.with her brother for a while?

Mine did this. I still have no idea why. It went on for a couple of months and then stopped...

Yes it's strange. We never leave her for an hour - we go in but it makes things worse.

When you say it makes it worse, what happens? She will escalate her screaming if she is really trying to communicate to you that she needs something. Are you trying to keep her in her cot/put her back before she is ready?

My ds did this at around 2, started screaming as soon as put in cot whereas previously had been fine. I'm afraid that, once I had ensured he was fine (perfectly ok until put in cot), and it was clear that going in was prolonging it (it took longer and longer to get him to settle), I let him cry it out which took around 40 mins on first night, then 20, then 10 etc until he was settling himself straight away. I'm aware this isn't always popular but I genuinely think it was a phase, and he was able to understand when I said ' it's bedtime, night night, mammy is going now and you must go to sleep'. Doesn't seem to have harmed him in any way.

Maybe she just isn't ready for bed, could try keeping her up a bit later.

Is she still having a nap?
My 2 and a bit year old is pretty tricky to get to bed if she naps in the day now.

Is she teething? That caught me by surprise as it had been so long since the last ones!

She doesn't nap. She has 4 molars is she due more?

Mine is getting canines and I think second molars are soon - could be an explanation or could just be 2 year old grumpiness.
