Sibling rivalry! - what did you do?

What did you do that helped with sibling rivalry? We have the usual pushing and shoving each other and not wanting to share toys. They r both toddlers. I have no idea what to do and when to step in and when to leave it. So is anyone willing to share the things that they did that worked?

My second is only 1 so not much advice, but with friends I've found getting them involved in solving the disagreement rather than dictating helps e.g. there are 2 girls who want to go on the swing but only 1 swing, How can we solve this? Got one of the children offering to push the other then swap. I might not have thought of this and would have demanded they take turns.

Also implemented 'suitable swap' so eldest cant just take a toy, need to find one youngest is Happy to be distracted by first.

Parenting books and programmes usually say to leave them to sort it themselves as much as possible.
