Did anyone’s baby only eat while asleep?

My LO has been feeding only when asleep for the past 6 weeks now abdvis nearly 5 months old.

After being back and forth it turned out they were tongue tied and this was snipped at 16 weeks. Things have not improved and it really does seem like an aversion rather than anything Medical as they will feed when asleep.

I’ve seen online a few forums with many parents going through a similar thing but never seen a resolution or outcome of if they got better or just had to wait out the year.

So has anyone else been through this? What was the outcome? Is anyone going through this now?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated

Mine did used to feed him in his naps ow he would scream at bottle
Was silent reflux
Once on rantidine and omeprazole it totally changed him and he loved milk !

I also tried every milk every year every bottle and tried hot/cold blah blah blah! It was so tiring and so horrible seeing baby like that
It was lovely when he got excited to see the bottle and feeding took 2 minutes and ended with a smile!

OP can I just ask if he’s on Aptamil? Just asking as they’ve changed the formula and lots of babies are now struggling with this particular brand.

Trying thats great thank you got through it, I’ll see how this goes but I’m really reluctant to try the gaviscon.

When it says don’t use with other thickening milk... can I just put it in normal aptimil or do I have to do a few feeds without the anti reflux first?

Jilted yeah we are using Aptimil and contacted them about the changes, but we’ve also tried Hipp, SMA etc etc and it hasn’t made a difference

Hey! That's okay, soz for the slack replies, currently on holiday! How did you get on? I'm not sure about the gaviscon thing, I just added it to his normal milk, keep me updated! It'd be nice to hear how things ended up :-) sadly Alot of threads I read have the problem but I never find out what happened in the end! X

Jilted yeah we are using Aptimil and contacted them about the changes, but we’ve also tried Hipp, SMA etc etc and it hasn’t made a difference. That’s fair enough but if it was my baby, I’d still give the aptamil a huge swerve. It could take a couple of weeks of using a different formula to get the aptamil out of their system.

I do agree with you about avoiding aptimil we are on Hipp and still having the same issue.

El hope you are having a great time! Still the same unfortunately so will just keep offering when awake and a couple of dreamfeeds. Lo is taking about 16oz a day

I would honestly get your hands on some neocate! Either by ringing round pharmacies or pleading during an appointment. I am so glad I sorted out little man before holiday, would have been a bloody nightmare! Yeah he was taking 16Oz a day and took 27 today! Never thought I'd see the day! It wouldn't hurt to change formulas, lo is now on 2ml of omeprazol a day (lowered slowly from 5!) and is still thriving. sadly back from holibobs today! Bleh!

LowKeyKoala · 31/08/2018 23:37

Totally agree with you, haven’t had a chance this week so will get on it tomorrow!

Sounds like a plan! Let me know how you get on, if you got your hands on any etc, yeah it's a pain in the a$$ trying to fit things in around Bubba, Goodluck! :3
