When did your toddler stop napping?

My son turned 2 at the end of May and my husband and I stopped his naps when he was around 2. If he napped in the day at all then he would not go to sleep til around 8-9 when he would usually be in bed by 6-6.30.

I feel so bad waking him up if he's fallen asleep but if i let him nap he is a nightmare to put to bed! Sad

Does anyone else have this issue?

I stopped DD naps at 26 months. She has always gone to bed at 8 and taken up to 90 mins to go to sleep but she started to also be difficult at nap time.

The first couple of weeks were tricky but she now sleeps 7.30 to 7.30 ish. She still wakes for cuddles during the night which is not a problem but she goes down to sleep in under 20 mins which makes a huge difference to our lives.

Overall she get more sleep then when she napped.

DD1 dropped her nap at 2.6 (as in, could not get her to nap anymore unless she was in the car) and I just stopped DD2’s nap at 2.8 as she was starting to stay awake until nearly 9pm. IME they will be very tired in the afternoon for a few months (and so am I!), but then everyone gets used to it.

My son had an hours nap yesterday, didn't go to sleep til about 9, woke up in the night for an hour and was up at 5:45 this morning! i'm so tired!

He will definitely want to nap today because he's tired already, which means he will be in bed late tonight as well. It's some kind of vicious cycle!

I stopped DD napping at 22 months as any sort of nap would result in her staying up until 10:30-11pm. She sleeps really well at night now.

I think everyone has this issue as their child approaches the time to drop naps. Is it really a massive issue if the odd days that he does fall asleep he goes to bed late? I often find they have the same sleep overall in 24hrs if you add it up. I get if it were everyday and you want some time to yourself in the evening but if it’s only the odd day here and there. My 2yo and 4yo still have naps here and there and we just do a fun thing in the evening (bike ride, visit family, movie night, out for dinner) and then take them to bed with us.

Both of my eldest stopped napping around the 12 month mark. Unless we were in the car or something, there wasn’t a chance on God’s green earth they were going to sleep. They went to bed well at night though which I suppose is something

My dd is 24 months and still has a good hours nap most days. She actually goes to sleep quicker and easier if she's had a decent nap otherwise she gets over tired and can't switch off
