Feeling massive mum guilt

Evening Mumsnet Smile
It's the summer holidays and money is tight (even more than usual with hubby off work on long term sick) and I'm feeling guilty that we have only been able to take my 6 year old DS out once to visit the deep. We usually go to the seaside but with the car overheating and my brothers wedding last weekend we just haven't been able to.

We have done lots of things at home like baking, movie nights and playing in the garden. He is off to his grandparents tomorrow for two weeks while we have a new kitchen fitted and typically our last weekend together I've trapped a nerve in my back and been stuck in bed so that messed up our plans.

I'm feeling massively guilty that we haven't been able to go places and do things together. I'm hoping I can make it up to him when he returns home in the last few days of the summer holidays.

OP let it go. LOADS of kids don't have days out or holidays and I know it's nice to have those things but the children still turn out happy and well.

I grew up with only a few holidays and days out...they were big treats but I remember wonderful holidays spent at home playing.

If a child is loved and entertained, then they're happy.

Agree. That sounds like a really great summer and one that he will remember of happy memories and quality time with his mum.
