dd & "best friend"

Dd's best friend, M, after 2 years of being inseperable, has moved on. M's mother is also my "best friend", although we'd never admit it out loud. Now that our dds are no longer close, a barrier seems to have grown up between M's mum and I. I feel unhappy about it but don't know what to do. Does anyone else have any experience of this or are M's mum and I just developmentally backward?

One of my closest friends has 2 children which my ds was friends with - (we don't live near anymore so they don't see each other often) and they grew apart as they got older but it hasn't affected our friendship one bit - we used to talk about it and agreed that because we were extremely close it didn't necessarily mean our children would be - they are still friends, only not as close as us mums are.
