I was wondering at what point did you stop burping your children after feeds?
I still burp dc 4m after every feed, but obviosuly you stop at some point, adults don't get burped haha.
At what age do you stop winding the baby?

I think it sort of naturally happened for us at about 5-6 months. She was sitting up and didn't seem to need it anymore

Think it was about the same age for us. We co-slept and I remember DD feeding then rolling back over, belching loudly and going back to sleep at about 7 months. She’s still very ladylike now Grin

The general "aim" is when your child can sit up on their own cause theyre then at a position to pass wind unaided. But you also kinda just know when your child starts burping themselves

7 months here and still burping a bit, though sometimes if I just sit baby up straight he will self burp- just started doing this more.

As others have said, as and when he was sitting up as then if he didn't just burp, merely picking him up did the job!

So around 5-6 mo here

When they start crawling they stop needing it.

arbrighton · 17/08/2018 14:43

There was a long time between DS burping without help and crawling Bertie

5 months nearly....

anotherangel2 · 17/08/2018 16:41

Crawling here too. Most countries don’t burp their babies.

harrietm87 · 17/08/2018 17:11

I haven't burped by patting back etc since about 3 weeks old, I just pick him up so he's upright and it comes out. He's ebf- not sure if that's relevant.

My dd seems to hate burping, you can wind for ages without getting it out, then all of a sudden she does this massive one. If she doesn't burp she ends up crying seemingly with stomach ache because she trumps a lot.
She very rarely burps alone without winding.

We still do at 7 months and feel DS needs it or he gets grouchy!...

Waitingonasmiley42 · 17/08/2018 18:53

Stopped at about 8 weeks

wintertravel1980 · 17/08/2018 20:16

I continued burping DD until she was 6-7 months. After 3-4 months it got very easy. Eventually DD started bringing up wind on her own with very little help.
