Bit of a dramatic title, I am looking for some help. Does anyone out there ( Sheffield area best) have one of those little life jacket type swim aids for a one year old that I can either borrow or purchase very cheaply. I know floaties do them but I cant seem to get one in his size, they are like a chunky life jacket with a zip or velcro fastenings at the front, they have 8 buoyancy aids in them that can be removed as swimming improves. I am looking for one before next wednesday. They are in the Blooming Marvelous catalogue page 56, but they can,t promise how quick it will get to us, if worst comes to worst we can order wednesday for next day £8 though). Forgot to mention it is for a boy so pink options no good sorrry.

We got DDs from Costco - just got back from Italy though where we left it because it was full of sand and knackered and was the last thing we would have packed and would not fit in the suitcase!!

Try Great Little Trading Company or Blooming Marvellous too - I know I have seen them in one of those catalogues too.

thanks twinkie, not heard of great little trading company, but will do a net search for them

tried greta little trading, unfortunately none in his size, guess we are going to have to pay the blooming £8 next day fee at blooming marvelous as they seem to be the only ones that do a size for a one year old

|was in the Early Learning shop in the Trafford Centre (near manchester) on Sunday and they had tham in their sale for £15 - not sure of the size though but you could try your local ELC or see if Manchester will sned one. I can't promise but could maybe pick one up for you and post it if you couldget it reserved. Try the trafford center website for phone numbers etc

yhanks moniker, allready tried ELC, Mothercare, John Lewis and a few other smaller shops, all seem to start at 2-4 years. I should have been more organised. Usually I am sorted weeks before a holiday but this year it is going to be a last minute panic i fear.

Do you have a Lillywhites nearby?

mckenzie · 19/08/2004 12:43

how big is your child summermum? I'm sure we put DS in his (mothercare, age 2-4) before he was 2 and it worked fine (our local simming teacher told us it was okay). Where do you live? You're more than welcome to borrow it?

Huge thanks to everyone out there, Lou33 I have never heard of Lillywhites, are they a baby shop, sports shop? DS was last weighed about 3 weeks ago and was 10.2 kg (roughly 23lbs i think. He is very tall for age (91st centile for height) so he may be allright in the 2-4 size.

McKenzie - I live in Sheffield, if you are in this area it would be excellent. I live in the Greenhill area but picking it up from you somewhere would be fine as you are willing to let me borrow it.

How much was teh Macro one yorkiegirl, I have a friend who has a macro card and could get me one.

They are a huge sporty shop. Sell pretty much anything to do with any sport out there. They seem to be only in Lonodn, but their number is 0870 333 9602. You should give them a call and see if they stock what you want, and if they would post it.

mckenzie · 19/08/2004 13:51

I'm north London summermum but if you want to pay for the postage, I dont mind posting it. Cant guarantee you getting it by wednesday though I suppose.

Thanks to everyone for their help on this. We have had to go ahead and order one from Blooming Marvelloues and pay £8 next day delivery to make sure its here in time.
