Tips for keeping dogs from babies

Stupid question really but does anyone have any tips for this?

My ds is 10 days old and obviously we never leave him alone with the dog (even though dog is very well behaved you can never be too careful).

It's just silly things like leaving Ds in moses basket when I go to the toilet... Or open front door etc.

Also what about with older babies who are more awake throughout the day? Any tips?

Thanks in advance!!

Watching with interest. I’m currently pregnant and will be in the same predicament. One of our dogs always follows me out of the room, so she’s not a problem, but the other dog hates being dragged up from where he’s sleeping unless it’s for dinner or a walk, so not sure what to do with him!

stair gates in various places, take baby to loo, supervise closely, train baby to be gentle

I don't have a dog but my mum does. When the DC were babies and I had to leave the room I always took the dog with me and shut the door so she couldn't get in without me being there. I'm 99.9% sure she wouldn't have harmed them but it's not worth the risk. Take the dog with you.

Either baby or dog is always with me. Usually baby. He lies on his changing mat while I’m using the loo or shower. Now he’s a bit bigger I can pop him safely in his playpen and the dog can’t get in.

You’ll have to take either the baby with you or the dog with you and use stairgates/close doors.

We have a Saint Bernard and we use baby gates, although he follows me everywhere anyway

Child gate, either the dog or baby came with me. (To be fair usually the dog as he likes to follow me anyway)

Now expecting my 2nd and and now I'll have to take the toddler with me too as he is more of a risk than the ancient dog
