10 month old stomach bug

My 10 month old dd is bf and has been sick 3 times overnight, projectile vomiting. I could feel her stomach heaving as she was sick. I'm still bf her on demand to replace fluids and she'll hold down small amounts but if she takes a bigger feed is sick. Do I need to do anything else? No temperature, she doesn't have any dehydration signs yet.

Hi OP

I would leave it a little while after your DD has been sick (maybe an hour) and then offer very small breastfeeds if she wants it. As long as she is keeping small amounts of milk down for a short while she should be ok.

Signs of dehydration include dry nappies after several hours and no tears when crying.

If you're worried I'm sure a dr would happily check her over as she's only little.

Hope she feels better v soon :)

Cooled boiled water using a syringe to ensure she takes small amounts and the stomach can tolerate it.
I think it needs to be about 100 mls over about 10 mins and if this can't be kept down then speak to GP.

You don't need to syringe water into a baby who's happy to breastfeed. Breastmilk is a better hydrator than water - it contains vitamins, minerals, antibodies, good bacteria and energy. Just little and often.

Thanks for the advice. She's been feeding little and often and she's much brighter this afternoon, still being sick but less so.
