Coping with new baby and new ex

How do you deal with the baby's father wanting to come to see the baby every day whilst trying to get over him and the relationship? Has anyone been in this situation? Ideally I'd like him to see the baby without me having to see him but I don't know how to go about that?

How old is the baby? Very new still? You shouldn't have to facilitate the Father's contact at all. If he wants to spend time with the baby and not be with you then he has to accept a contact arrangement.

Is the baby breast fed?

I found this hard too, as with ex coming over to see him so often it felt like we were still in a couple in a weird way. My advice really is you just have to see him as your baby’s father and not your ex partner. It is harder said than done, and at first I thought it wasn’t possible but now 7 months later I am over him and just decided to cut all emotional ties. Let him speak to you, if he asks how the baby is be just civil and don’t try involve conversation too much via text. Make everything about the baby and not the past relationship. As for him coming to visit I wasn’t comfortable being without my baby and he understood, but if you feel ready and can trust him let him come to you and ask. Or maybe bring up in conversation in person? I found talking on text about contact just got taken out of context and one of us was left feeling annoyed lol.

I’m sure he will understand, if the relationship is over there has to be some conversation about boundaries etc. But honestly, time is a good healer and you will start to feel better. Breaks up are so hard even without a child involved! Take it easy, speak to friends and family about it this helped me a lot. You will feel like you have more head space. Xxx
