My mil babysits once a week. I told my her that I'll be starting weaning this week, she said that she'd already given them yogurt. Hmm

I was slightly annoyed she'd just given without consulting first. Aibu?

Yeah that's totally bang out of order, she should of asked you or your partner first! Especially if you've not started weaning yet!

How old is your DC?

Newbabies15 · 14/08/2018 09:16

Nearly 6 months. Felt like the wind was taken out of sails.

Yea that's pretty shitty. Mine had been having weekly tastes of food from in laws. They want to spoil him, thinks it's their job as grandparents

Shitty of her to tell you! What was she hoping you’d say? Oh great thanks for that?

It was probably just a tiny taste - if it was more she’d have kept her mouth shut about it and you’d have noticed the nappy. She sounds like a wind up merchant.

I definitely understand why your annoyed, I'm sure it's something you wanted to do with your DC first.

My MIL can be overbearing at times, and I tend to let a lot go, as she's "doing us a favour" by having DD.

Maybe either you or your partner should try and speak to her and explain that, it wasn't her place to do this without asking first.

That's the thing. We have to let it go because I can't afford childcare and they are really good with my lo's. She's just not very good with my feelings. So i told her exactly what I was planning to do and that people wean without pures. She wasn't happy when I told her that perhaps what she was doing wasn't as fantastic as she thought.
