Hi all my 6 month old is teething real bad, he has been since almost 8 weeks old but the past few days has become almost unbearable for him! I have given him cold teethers, biccy pegs, Ashton and parsons, anbesol gel, calpol and rubbed it on his gums, dentinox, bonjela but I dont feel like any of this is helping the only thing that puts him at ease at the minute is him laying on my chest and while it’s lovely having cuddles I also have to get on with other things and I want him to be pain free. I’ve heard of people using ambesol liquid for adults but how safe is this to use on him? Has anyone got any good tips that helped their little ones???

you haven't mentioned neurofen?

But equally, it's usually only this bad for a few days

MrsPatrickDempsey · 13/08/2018 16:42

How many teeth has he got?

Newtothis18 · 13/08/2018 16:50

Oh no I haven’t tried nurofen I’m gonna get some today thank you! No teeth as yet bottom ones are trying to cut through so causing him a lot of jip!

Hmmm, it gets worse if you're only on the first ones I'm afraid.

The molars are MONSTROUS

Newtothis18 · 13/08/2018 18:39

Thanks I’m fully aware that it gets worse was only asking for other suggestions as my child isn’t sleeping won’t stop crying and is in agony. Yes it gets worse but the way he is at the moment and seeing him like that I don’t think it can get any worse

Another one to say nurofen it's ibuprofen based so because it's an anti inflammatory it's much better for teething.
I used to alternate calpol and nurofen two hourly.
I also used to freeze strawberries or mango and put them in those little netbag feeder things for them to chew on.
I hope he feels better soon.

ShockShockShock Is this a normal timeline?

Our daughter's almost 16 weeks, started showing signs of teething 2 weeks ago. Could it really be 3.5 more months before the tooth even tries to pop out???

I have no idea, I didn’t even realise baby was teething to begin with as I assumed it was way to early he would literally scream every evening so one night I put some gel on his gums and he stopped straight away! He didn’t have the warning signs at this point so was so hard to figure out what was wrong! I would have thought a tooth would have showed up by now though lol! LeighaJ I hope for your sake and baby’s that her tooth doesn’t take this long as I know what a nightmare it can be x

It’s really hard, isn’t it? If only they could tell you why they are crying. If he has been showing these symptoms for 3 months with no sign of teeth then I wouldn’t put my money on teething being the cause

LeighaJ · 13/08/2018 23:30

Yeah sometimes I wish little thought bubbles would appear over their heads telling us exactly what they need.

My DD showed all the classic signs of teething from around 4 months old but the teeth didn't pop through until she was 8.5 months, seems it can take quite some time for some babies which isn't so great for us!
