would you use this formula

I'm breastfeeding, also expressing regularly so baby can have bottles. Done it for 7 months, ready to move on to formula now. Would you use the bottled stuff, even though it has been sat in kitchen cupboards during very warm weather or do you just think too risky?

Also, what about the powdered stuff- its been open about three months now and in same cupboard.

Or would you just ditch and start again?

Also, anyone else had a baby that was very sicky on formula and fine on breastmilk? What did you do?

As long as the bottled stuff is in date it'll be fine but ditch the powder, that's meant to go after 4 weeks.

It's not surprising they are more sick on formula, it's FAR harder to digest than the milk made specifically for them.

I'm still BF at almost 14mo- he had about 1 bottle of formula a week from 5 mo to 11mo as I was out one afternoon tutoring but other than that, we've carried on.

You could try a different brand, or just keep on with weaning and BF when you can

Yeah ditch the power as only should be open for 4 weeks. I’d use the bottle stuff if it’s in date still

Thanks both. He's not taking to food that well at the mo. I'm back at work full time soon, so may just combi feed.

Oh and can you mix fomula and b milk?

Yes, you can mix them Smile No advice on the sickiness, but it might take baby a little while to get used to the new milk.

It takes time with food.

Ds started eating noticeably more at 9 mo then again at 12 mo (and needs actual portions prepping now at 13 mo)

Thanks arbrighton. I'm in a pickle now as baby wont take formula ( he used to) and my milk supply is running low. I'm hoping he gets hungry enough . Last small feed was 8 this morning and nothing yet- 14.50. Sad

Why do you think your supply is running low?

Could be a nursing strike?

(sorry was away with DS over weekend so not on here)

rubyroot · 14/08/2018 09:39

Thanks arbrighton- panic over, it was temporary but thought it was running low due to pregnancy, albeit very early pregnancy!

He's taking a mix of formula and breastmilk and over time I am going to reduce the breastmilk so he can be on formula on return to work
