One year old fell from the bed

My one year old was stirring during the night so put her in with me (there was a bed guard on so she couldn't roll off the bed). She fell asleep so I did too but woke up with a thud (she had pulled herself up on the bed guard and leaned forward and fallen off the bed). I took her to a and e after my husband had got back as she was fine and her normal self. Doctor said no injured that she could see. Now I am worried about being reported to ss as she fell off the bed. Can anyone reassure me? I have never been to the hospital with her before.

Unlikely, I've never met a kid who didn't fall off the bed. It's usually when they're younger thought. You've done good getting her to this age. Wink rite of passage almost. They don't hurt themselves usually because they're relaxed and don't tense up like we do when we fall.

DD fell off the bed a bit younger and nothing came of it, it’s more common than you think and as an isolated incident there shouldn’t be any investigation, social workers have enough to do.

I fell out the bed a million times. Still an active sleeper. Wouldn't worry. Glad LO is okay :)

My kids have fallen out of bed and off sofas as babies more times than I can count!

You're actually not legally a mother until your child has fallen off the bed. Little-known fact.

Seriously though, the doctors aren't going to speak to SS and if they did SS would laugh out loud and file the referral in the circular cabinet.

Thanks for the messages I think for me it's the fact that I was asleep when she did it as it was the middle if the night. I can't shake this guilty feeling but luckily she it's ok. My little boy never threw himself off a bed

I'm a paediatrician. Can confirm that every paediatrician that I know has had their child fall out of bed. Mine also fell off the sofa with me less than 24 hrs after I told my husband not to leave her on the sofa as she throws herself towards the edge. Blush

DS launched himself headfirst out of his cot on my last day of maternity leave. We went to A&E as recommended by 111 & they said he was absolutely fine. He'd never pulled himself up from sitting to standing in the cot before. As soon as we got home I lowered his cot. I felt guilty ringing DP to say what had happened but it was an accident that could have happened to anyone at any time.
