Went to pick my 3yo up today and was told that she bit another child so hard that they need stitches. I am so beyond upset and have no idea what to do.

I feel like I have to do something to try to make this up to the other parent. I am absolutely horrified that my Daughter has done this and am so upset for the other child and their parents.

Has anyone been through this? Have you any advice on what I should do?

My ds bit a little girl at nursery when he was about 2 , it’s the one and only time he has ever bitten ( he’s 25 and a teacher now) . If you’ve not seen it there is a very funny episode of Modern Family (season 2) where they have a biting incident .

My dd bit another girl on the cheek at her CM's when she was about 3. It drew blood. I too, was utterly horrified.
The CM said it had happened super quickly while they were sat playing in the floor and she turned around to get a book.
I had to fill in an accident form. I thinkI May have cried.

2 weeks later the other girl bit my dd back on the cheek in almost a complete copy! I thought - touché. I was not one bit troubled.

I watched her like a hawk after that for 6 months. Nothing. No indication of why she may have done it. It never happened again with either child.

Dd is now a teen. She likes to grit her teeth at me in a sulky snarl occasionally but she's never bitten since then as far as I know. She has friends and stuff and she's never bitten them Grin

Biting is very common. You do find often when people get outraged by your 'horrible violent child', that a few months down the line they have a one-time biter too.

Please don't worry. A letter to the other parent is a lovely touch x
