why is DD's wee coming up and over the toilet seat?

DD has been out of nappies and using the toilet for nearly 2 weeks now. Sometimes her wee comes forward rather than down and then dribbles all over the seat.

Any ideas why this is happening?

TIA

Is she sitting too far back/down

That changes the angle of exit

noonar · 31/05/2007 20:38

i think she's sitting too far FORWARD.

my daughter does thia sometimes, normally because shes not sitting far enough back or when she trying to watch it come out!

Try sitting very far down at the back - I promise you the angle changes

It's kind of a slouch and the pelvic floor tips

whomovedmychocolate · 31/05/2007 20:40

Ahh so she's weeing up the front side of the loo and it's sort of overflowing.....hmm tough one. Have you tried ping pong balls in the loo to aim for?

mckenzie · 31/05/2007 20:53

First of all I thought she was sitting too far forward so then i moved her back a bit but it still happened. I'm wondering how significant it is that it happened quite a few times today and she was wearing leggings which are obviously quite tight. Could it be that she was a bit sweaty and stuck together down below?
Would that make a difference do you think?
Katymac - I can't picture what you mean? 'sitting very far down at the back'
Do you mean sit at the back of the seat so that all of her bottom goes into the hole?

No it's nothing to do with where she sits

It's how she sits in herself

Stand up and wee

Sit down & wee

Then kinda slouch into to sitting down and the wee spurts up

The angle changes

Think about when you do a wee outside (or did when you were little) - it's hard not to splash you trousers?

mckenzie · 31/05/2007 21:00

FioFio - I'm going to think of you now every time DD does it

Katymac - i'm confused now. The sitting far back and down is what is making her wee come out at the wrong angle - is that correct?

Well it does mine

It tips the pelvis slightly differently and the angle changes

I am not obsessed with my own pee btw - but I was incontenient for 6 yrs so it was a kinda major topic of contemplation (iyswim)

PinkTulips · 31/05/2007 21:03

i spread dd's legs a little and make sure she's far enough back and it seem to stop it happening.

if it's any consolation it's happened 3 times when the playschool staff had brought her to the toilet and they must toilet kids 20/30 times a day so it's not just us clueless moms

greedygreedyguzzler · 31/05/2007 21:53

my dd does that too! when she is really desperate to go!
first time she did it i was squatting in front of her talking to her and got COVERED in wee! nice!

i just get her to close her legs more now! when her legs are spread wide it tends to miss and get me!
