Four month old suddenly developed diarrhoea

Hoping someone has had a similar experience. My four month old for the last week or so has had diarrhoea; he’s formula fed (not by choice) and has up til now been fine. He’s a good sleeper but when he just woke for a feed at 3 his nappy was saturated, and I’ve just been clearing up a pretty major incident on the changing table (a real treat at this time in the morning!). He doesn’t seem bothered by it and other than nappy rash doesn’t seem to have any other symptoms, not dehydrated. My HV said it could be teething - his hands are constantly in his mouth and he is a bit grizzly, red cheeks and seems to get relief from teething gel. Just wondered if anyone out there had any advice? Will call my gp in the morning

It will most likely be teething. My daughter did a lot more poos like that just before she got her first tooth and got bad nappy rash which she hadn't really had before. Don't think the doctor will be able to do anything unless it gets pretty bad and lasts for a while.
