Im so embarrassed!!!

Ok so yesterday i woke up covered in bites especially around my feet and ankles. Metioned to Dh we must have had a mosquito in the room as i had been bitten to death. This morning got out of bed and whilst walking to toilet noticed a FLEA on my leg!!! (I know its a flea, managed to trap between fingers and looked it up) I obviously freaked and started stripping the bed, in the space of doing so another FOUR jumped on me!!! I imediately bagged everything up jumped in bath and rushed out to buy flea treatments. We dont have any pets, how on earth has this happened!!!!??? I am so upset and creeped out. Cant seem to see them anywhere but our bedroom but am going to treat the whole house top to bottom. Has anyone else had this with no animals in the house? Im so confused

Quick starter on the long road to eradication - lots of shallow bowls of hot Fairy water in every room. Really gets loads!!

Not sure how it's happened with no pets but guess one must have come in on one of you. But was going to say I think this is a bad time of year with fleas and the hot weather will have probably made it worse. As we have a cat and treat him for fleas but I got a few bites last week.
Wash bedding above 60 to kill them and give it a good vac. I guess you have used some spray on the house as well.

You bring the eggs in on your shoes from outside, the heat activates them and because you have no pets they will go for you.

Vacuuming will trap some fleas in the hoover but you must empty it in your outside bin immediately after. Hoovering can also encourage more fleas to hatch with the heat and movement so is not a long term solution.

I agree with pp wash bedding at 60°.

Go to a local vet and get the flea spray. You shouldn't breathe it but it's safe after about an hour and doesn't leave a bad smell, you could probably just do the affected room unless you see any other fleas.
