My neck hurts so much!! It has on and off for about 6 weeks. Im pretty sure its due to bfing my 6 month old dd and not sitting in good enough position. Anyone else had this? Considering whether i need to visit gp x

Yep I had this as I think if your not super conscious of your posture, it easy to hunch over ( well I did anyway) I bought a nursing chair, and also made sure I had a cushion under him and behind me when feeding anywhere else. I also found doing a bit of yoga in the morning and night, I mean literally 10 mins stretching out my back and arms did the world of good

Are you staring down at baby while feeding? That'll give you a bad neck.

No point going to gp, just go to an osteopath or physio.

I lie down and just put baby on top if I am at home :)

I would go to a breastfeeding support group or NCT group where there’s a breastfeeding counsellor as it sounds like you need ideas for different positions. I’m not sure what the gp could do.

Yep I had it, I went for physio in the end (and switched to one firm pillow and a pillow between my knees to try to make sure my spine was straight.

The physio told me that the muscles at the front of your neck atrophy with the hunching and breastfeeding (and settling in the cot etc) and gave me some exercises to strengthen them. I'd recommend some Pilates too!

I’m the same, the base of my neck is one big knot. I try and go for a deep tissue massage at the physios when I can.
