Windy baby

My son is 13 weeks, formula fed and coming to the end of a spell of colic. We started him on infacol which didn’t help, gripe water was fantastic for about 6 weeks but then made him vomit and we are now trying Colief which is helping him poo regularly in the mornings. The remaining problem is that he wakes up around 4:30am with really painful wind, he’s not ready to wake as he’s still tired but I can tell it’s his belly hurting him.

I’ve done baby massage and am applying what I learnt regularly throughout the day and sometimes during night feeds but it’s not helping that morning wind. He burps fine during the day but I cannot get anything out of him at night despite trying for ages and in all the positions.

The early morning starts are killer and I’m looking for any other recommendations! He’s otherwise a very healthy happy baby. I’ve got no reason to believe there are any intolerances to the milk, he was the same when I was giving him breast milk. We are also using Dr Brown bottles. Help!

If he’s got wind that’s hard to shift, try the “tiger in the tree hold”. There’s some videos on how to do it on YouTube.

Is the milk Aptamil by any chance?

I’ve tried that position a couple of times, can keep trying I guess! He used to have it but is on cow and gate for the last few weeks. It’s probably just something he will grow out of and there’s no winning solution but I’m exhausted, last night was awful! It’s like regression back into his early colic days Shock
