I feel ridiculous asking for advice on this but dc1 is 18 months now and is always hugging other children or some of the mums at the classes we go to. Always followed by "ahhhhh" and smiling as he does it, he's very gentle and just loves cuddles!

Problem is sometimes it's random children age 4 plus and a couple have looked uncomfortable when he's hugged them.

Do I intervene when he does this and if the other kid looks uncomfortable discourage it? It's very cute but I'm worried that some children may have additional needs and find this sort of interaction distressing or just not like hugs from random toddlers? I don't want to confuse or upset him for doing what is probably pretty normal at his age.

Thanks in advance!

oh bless him, what an absolute sweetie!!! toddlers will just do as per their own requirements, they are uninhibited little beings and will just act according to their mood of the moment. I shouldnt worry about it!! be happy that is displaying positive behaviour and just hugging everyone, rather than hurting them. Maybe you could just gently pull him away if you see that his hugs are distressing another child, though to be honest, the child will probably just do that for themselves. His behaviour is completely normal!! make the most of it, wont be too long before he moves on to something else!!!
