Too busy to plan stuff for the kids

Not sure if anyone else has this problem, but sometimes I feel like I have so much going on I don't really plan enough good stuff for the kids to do (I have a 4 year old in pre-school and a 6 year old in school). I want to keep them busy doing fun things where they're learning stuff rather than always watching movies (which I also love).

There's so many different parenting and activity blogs but it takes time to read them. Am I missing something, is there an ultimate guide hidden somewhere online?

Are you/someone else off with them in the holidays? If yes join a local parenting Facebook page and ask for places to visit.

Join the library challenge, get s recipe book and get them to choose a recipe, write the shopping list, go shopping, measure the ingredients and cook the food. Get them to measure things around the house. That is literacy and numeracy sorted.

Don’t over think it. You don’t need to do everything. Remember you are their parent not their teacher. I have recently done some literacy training (secondary teacher) and an important part of reading is inference. To infer you need to have knowledge of the world so go places, do normal things like trains, buses, cash point, museums, shows, bike rides and watch a nature documentary.

If all else fails stick activities for 4 to 6 year olds in Pinterest.
