Anyone else have a screecher?

18m ds1 and my god, you'd think we were killing him. It physically hurts my ear on the side I hold him on. He's always been a screecher and it's bloody hideous. Currently doing pick up put down for nap because apparently at 18m self settling is no longer a thing. I'm stood outside his room and my eardrum is throbbing from the last entry into his room. It feels awful but I remind myself that even if he runs out of water or drops his toy he screeches like this so he's not as distressed as he sounds. Friends always look horrified to hear him and can't believe I'm not panicking he's broken a limb or something. Even friends that know him well still look shocked.

Ds2 on the other hand is 6m and hasn't screeched ever. Just a normal cry.

If anyone can discover the secret of raising a non screecher, they deserve the Nobel Peace Prize

Oh really? That's interesting. None of my friends little ones seemed to do it as babies or young toddlers. They all look surprised at the noise coming from him. I'm guessing there's might start soon. Ds1 has done it from a tiny baby
