Want to give EBF bub a dummy

I know it’s a topic that people will always have different opinions on, but it’s something I’ve thought about.

My 4mo EBF DS2 likes to nurse to sleep. Thing is he doesn’t want milk so just dribbles it down me instead because he just wants the comfort. I’ve tried him on mam, nuk, Tommee tippee ctn and Avent multiple times since birth and he just chews it. He does have 2 teeth now too.

He used to take an Avent but just sit with it in his mouth not really doing anything but he also used to take a bottle of expressed perfectly but won’t now.

I’m not trying to force plastic on him when he doesn’t want it but he does often bring up or spit out his whole feed because he doesn’t actually want the milk even when he’s crying and gnawing at my top for boob.

Apologies if it doesn’t make sense I’m so very tired.

We gave a dummy from a week or two old, exclusively bf to 10.5 months and combo fed until just after her first birthday. She seemed happiest with the Avent ones, although has only very recently started accepting the larger 6 months + ones. Tapping the dummy while it's in their mouth can help encourage them to suck.

Oh great idea thank you! When baby was 2(ish) weeks old he took a closer to nature bottle from his dad immediately as if he’d never known different and had the odd one after, but suddenly at about 10 weeks just refused. I’ve bought him a Doidy though as my eldest loved his

Is that the Tommee Tippee bottles? We used those ones initially but she just gradually took less and less until she just outright refused them. So totally gave up on giving any expressed milk, but a couple of months later tried her with a Mam bottle and she took it quite happily.

Well you can try. None of mine would take a dummy, they preferred me. Envy

Prem ebf ds only took the MAM 0-2 month size dummies for months!!

When I had my DS 10 years ago he loved the closer to nature dummies they had then with the soft silicone across the front so the whole thing moved more like a boob. They were excellent but they discontinued them about a month later which is typical!
