Leaking reuseable night nappy - help!

My poor friend was recommended by me to change to reusables.
She has a problem in that her baby is waking with a wet side. He sleeps on his side and when he wees it leaks out and gets his clothes all wet, she even puts towels under him to save the bedsheets, so she is annoyed that her washing has trebled as well!
Anyone else have this problem? My dd sleeps on her side and is fine, I only think it must be to do with her baby being a boy and peeing more outwards and missing the fabric of the nappy iyswim?
She currently uses a Bamboozle with a booster....

boost more! maybe put a bigger wrap on too?

snugglebumnappies · 30/05/2007 12:48

What nappies is she using? Sound like there may be a wrap problem, is she using a popper or aplix wrap? I would recommend a popper one as you can adjust the fastening round the legs and waist seperatly so that is baby has a chubby tum and slim legs you will still get a good fit.

Just put double nappies on overnight. You might need 2 different sized ones, butv it works a treat

Extra booster and a wool wrap

pamplemousse · 30/05/2007 20:55

Asked her what wrap she was using and it is a Motherease, which imo doesn't have enough applix to do up snugly enough for nighttime. Have lent her my xlarge (her baby is huge for 7mo) prowrap (yummies) PUL wrap as it has good elastic edges. Personally I would use woollen but if I start introducing her to lanolin -ing she'll may go mad! My tots bots fleece also has good elastic edges and is more breathable, but not big enough to lend her. What wraps come in large, fleecy and poppers? Poppers seem like a good plan as he has very chunky thighs... And what would fit over a Bamboozle a booster as another layer?

Stacinator Delux Fleece.

Wacky wraps are good - large, fleecy and poppers! Fab designs as well.

pamplemousse · 11/06/2007 11:47

Thanks! Have now ordered a Stacinator for her... Hope its going to do the trick ;)

bamboo terries make great boosters as you can fold them wide or narrow and they are very slim. Nappy Nation and Babeco do 50 and 60cm terries, just fold them into a rectangle and put them between the nappy and the wrap (BTW is she doing this wth her existing boosters - putting the boosters inside the nappy can lead to legs gaping and wee leaking out the sides???)

pamplemousse · 11/06/2007 19:07

Ah interesting! Her boosters are going inside the nappy, never heard of putting them outside, thanks mrsw!

I was having the same problem with my ds2. Solved by extra extra boosting. He now wears a combination of soemthing like a fluffle or Motherease onesize with an extra booster, plus a terry over the top.
