What to call testicles!

Teasavedmylife · 22/07/2018 18:27

My 2yr old son has got pretty good language skills and has been referring to his penis as his willy for a while now. Loves to talk to me about (and demonstrate Hmm) his willy wiggling when he gets out of the bath!!
Today he pointed to his tescticles and asked “what’s this” and I didn’t really know what to tell him... Balls? Nuts? Straight to testicles? (Which to me sounds pretty weird but maybe the best option?!)
Trivial question I know but any tips? Ta Smile

My ds9 jokes they are his mutts nuts!!
*does know the correct term!!

strawberryalarmclock · 22/07/2018 18:28

Er, testicles? Seems the logical name to give them!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 22/07/2018 18:28

My D's knows they are testes but calls them ballbag

I tell mine the correct term and also nicknames other people call them.
There’s no harm in your son knowing the name of a body part.

PandaG · 22/07/2018 18:30

Testicles best option IMO - no chance of offence, whereas balls or nuts could perhaps be considered rude.

Teasavedmylife · 22/07/2018 18:31

Ahh my step bro said to call it his “ball bag” but sounds so weird for a 2yr old to say that!

Testicals.

That's what they are, but as he gets older introduce the more common names.... he'll hear them all in the playground when he starts school anyway.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/07/2018 18:33

Mine used to call them ‘nutters’ when they were little. Grin I think they become ‘balls’ at school age though.

Dadsbigsausages · 22/07/2018 18:33

When my son asked me if his sausages will be as big as dads when he's a big boy I realised we'd shockingly neglected to tell him what testicles are called.

So now he says testicles, but we say big sausages 😂

ShowOfHands · 22/07/2018 18:34

They're just testicles in our house.

Imaystillbedrunk · 22/07/2018 18:34

My son calls them his peanuts, he knows the correct name, but prefers peanuts

ScattyCharly · 22/07/2018 18:34

Ball-ees
Nicer than balls

megletthesecond · 22/07/2018 18:35

Testicles.
Although ds later picked up "balls" from school.

Canwejustrelaxnow · 22/07/2018 18:36

Testicles.

Condragulations · 22/07/2018 18:37

Penis and testicles surely, that’s what they are Confused

IrishMumInLondon · 22/07/2018 18:37

My policy was to just use the correct anatomical terms for everything - there's no reason children shouldn't know them and they are after all the correct terms. Of course they may well use other terms as they get older. I note that my two DS's (12 and 15) both days balls - as does my DD (17). So they won't necessarily stick to the name you used when they were small but I think it's the best place to start

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 22/07/2018 18:40

Bollocks? Wink

Teasavedmylife · 22/07/2018 18:41

maybe it’s my own prudishness then about “penis” and “testicles”... obv that is what they are! Thanks.
when he told my mum about how his willy wiggles in the bath it sounds cute and innocent for some reason in my head!

Testicles and penis in this house. DS aged 5 occasionally refers to his willy or “bits” but knows their proper names. Medically accurate and less risk of offending anyone.

reallybadidea · 22/07/2018 18:46

Ds used to call his tescatels Grin

EdithWeston · 22/07/2018 18:48

They need to know the proper names, but day-to-day I think every little boy there is says willie, and then balls or nuts (or indeed the whole caboodle as peanuts - for penis and nuts).

(Unfortunately, there are no such universal day-to-dayterms for the female undercarriage. Though bits or fanny seem to be in pretty wide useage)

QuilliamCakespeare · 22/07/2018 18:49

@NoArmaniNoPunani I laughed out loud at ballbag. I have two boys and suffer from the same dilemma as OP but that one isn't making the list, mostly because for some reason I find it hilarious and can't say it with a straight face Grin

BikeRunSki · 22/07/2018 18:50

DS (9) knows that they are called testicles, but calls them “nuggets”. I have no idea where he got that from - not home anyway- but he has used it since he was 2 or 3.
