Length of baby

My 9 week old was weighed yesterday and she's 12 lbs 4oz.

I was a little disappointed to learn they don't check the length anymore (however I understand the reasoning). But the reason I wanted to know it because she is the length of her carry cot and changing mat already! And she is in size 3-6 leggings which don't need to be rolled up. Some 3-6 leggings are to small for her around the waist in fact! It's only the next ones that aren't too tight for her.

I just measured her myself and she seems to be about 63-64 cm/24-25 inches

Curious what everyone else's babies measurements are and if anyone else struggles with baby clothes sizing?

I should point out that my little lady has a Dad who is 6"2! I'm only 5"4 myself...

My baby is very long. At 12 weeks old he's in 9-12 month clothes and grew out of his noses basket and carry cot at 5 weeks.

It's completely dependent on the baby.

That does sound long but not overly so, especially for weighing 12lbs. European clothing sizes are in cm rather than age and the size equivalent to 0-3 months is 56cm, 3-6 months is 62cm and the next size is 68cm. I would say 3-6 is about right - and it's fairly normal IME for babies to be up to 2 "age-based" sizes away from what their actual age is. That's why I quite like the length/height based sizing, even though it's harder to figure out for people unfamiliar with babies that age.

I do mine with the tape measure. She was 45 cm at 38 weeks and I was only 41 cm at 41 weeks so I expect she will be taller than me.

@molifly wow he's gonna be so tall!

Thanks for the replies. I know all babies are different so I was just curious to find out what other measurements where and of others struggled with clothes fitting! I have to hold everything up to her to see if it might fit before I buy it! 😂

Luckily she's still got loads of room left in her push chair fitting on the pram 😊

When I measured my baby I thought he was 65/66cm but my hv did it and he's actually 62.5 - you have to lie them on their side otherwise can be inaccurate.

At 12 weeks he was 12lb 9oz and 62.5cm, so similar to yours except obviously yours is younger!

My 8 wk old daughter also has a 6ft 2 dad and a 5ft 4 mum! She’s 11lb 5 at the mo but I’m not sure how long she is now, she was measured at 4 weeks but seems to have grown loads since then. Now in the weird stage where she’s starting to look uncomfortable in some 0-3 but other things are fine. Don’t think it helps I use cloth nappies so she’s got a giant bum to cover as well as the long legs 😂

My DD is just 7 months old and weights 15lb 5oz and is 65cm. I'm 5.7 and DH is 6ft!

So I think she'll eventually be a tall girl!
