toddler sleep dramas

hoping someone might have some advice.....
my daughter is recently two. My partner has just left us about two weeks ago. It has just taken my three hours to get her to fall asleep.. up at 7am, asleep at 10pm with a 1 hour nap.
I am not a believer in letting her cry (as much as people try to convince me this is the thing to do, I cannot do it). We used to have fairly nice bedtimes, story and cuddles, and fall alseep with me or sometimes fall asleep in her bed holding my hand. But now, she is so tired, she keeps asking me for things... a different teddy, a juice... or she wants to change her nappy but wont let me do it etc...
she gets so upset she is headbutting the floor, and so I am resorting to bad habits like watching mr tumble nursery rhymes to calm her down. Once i can get her to lie down she is asleep in seconds, but it takes a lot to get there.
Does this seem like a familiar two year old sleep problem, or could this be because her dad is not here... any ideas what I should do???

Do you have a routine or is dd dictating what happens? We have 1/2 hour of telly, offer the potty then she goes to bed and can have a drink and snack at the same time as bedtime story, she brushes her teeth in bed (something we'll have to change eventually) then we say night night and turn her music/nightlight on (we turn the nightlight off as soon as she's asleep). She might come out a couple of times, first time she can have a cuddle and we take her back, second time we just say back to bed and take her back, third you say nothing and take her back (and repeat if necessary) so she's not rewarded every time she gets up.
