Baby No 2 is due soon. Anyone got any tips for preparing 2 year old boy?

We read stories which got him familiar with what would happen. Best of them recommended on here which is out of print but well worth ordering second hand is Little Rabbit's New Baby - shows realistically how new babies can be very hard work and make everyone fell tired and cross! Also, when the baby comes buy a gift for the baby with the toddler and a gift 'from' the baby for the toddler to recieve in return. Involve the toddler in choosing a name, preparing the baby's stuff, etc.

DS got 2.5 yr old sister a present, a piggy bank so she could start getting a few pennies pocket money. It made her feel like a big girl so she wouldn't get jealous of the baby. I got her involved as much as possible, in helping me with nappies. She had her own toy baby. Basically, I made her feel like she was mummy's helper and had a very important job, rather than being replaced or pushed out. It helped that everyone brought her a small present when they visited the baby.

Also, when I brought DS home, I left him in the car seat while I chatted to dd, it had been her first day at preschool so we made a big fuss about it before lifting DS out and letting her have a cuddle.
