Cough remedies for toddlers

My 20 month old has had a cough all week. Our humidifier doesn't work so I'm just using Vick's on her and giving her paracetamol once a day (for her teething). She's only ever drank water. Are there any warm drinks I can give her? Or any other remedies you use please? Thank you

Pineapple juice has been found to be just as effective as cough medicines.

Really? I will go and get her some, even though we don't know normally give juice.

Yes, I read somewhere that most cough syrups are effective because they are gooey and line and calm the throat, and that pineapple juice does the same thing. We've been using it with our dc for a while now. They like the taste and it is high in vitamin c too.

I found Benelyn cough syrup didn't really do anything but then I bought tixy licks and it worked wonders. Also if I you put your LO bottle of water in the fridge so it goes cold that will help as it will soothe the throat. Hope this helps

Bit late but have you tried honey as well. Studies also show it being more effective than cough medicine

I give honey to my children. As long as they are over 12 months it’s ok.
