Parental Rights

I’m a single parent to a five year old daughter. My daughter’s father hasn’t seen her for five years. Although his family have always had contact with her, and love her more than anything. They’re so disgusted with his behaviour, they’ve completely cut him off. After this he would frequently message me abuse and make vile comments about our daughter and even threaten to harm us. To the point I had to get the police involved. Anyway.. I was recently very poorly and I’ve been thinking ‘what would happen to my daughter if anything happened to me?’ He’s on the birth certificate, so would he have full parental rights if something happened to me? Is there anything I can do? The thought of him anywhere near her completely terrifies me.

Given that there has been police involvement and you can prove he’s not been part of her life you could seek legal action to have his parental rights removed.
