My DD has a fat bum and a long rise and I need another sort of nappy - reusable - any advice please?

Well as the title says: DD is seven months old and is already getting too big for size 2 little lambs, not widthways, but in length - she has builders bum syndrome and when she does a poo, it shoots out the back !

The problem is she is incredibly tall (well over three foot already) and has a long rise, (the measurement from her crotch to her waist) and regular prefolds are several inches too short.

Are flat nappies the answer? I need something DH can get to grips with (also how do you fasten such things these days)?

Please help, I'm fed up of her royal poopiness sitting on my knee and squeezing poos out of her nappy unexpectedly.

I would say that Bambineos spring to mind instantly. My ds2 is 22 months and 33 ins tall (only know this 'cos measured him yest) and I have to fold the top down as I find them too long in the rise! They would probably therefore be perfect for your dd. Flame will probably explain more about them in due course, that is if I haven't already cross posted with her . (She sells 'em by the way) HTH

I've got a popolini ultrafit for my son which comes up very high. He's outgrown all his size 2 nappies in length not width. They fasten with velcro and you can adjust the rise with poppers (they are a birth to potty) and they are very absorbant. I would really reccomend them. The only draw back I've found is they take quite a while to dry, but no longer than bamboo nappies. If you are interested in flat nappies then you can get toddler sized terries from elliepants and twinkle on the web. The nappy lady has an excellent section on folds for flat nappies.

I'd try the nappy lady anyway for second hand nappies - try a few different ones. Biggish ones that spring to mind are bamboozles and stuffies. TBH I have found that Little Lambs have a seriously skimpy cut, both width and lengthways. I only use mine when I've run out of tots. The difference in size is marked.

Thanks, I'll go have a look and see what I can find. If I get a couple of styles used I can try them and see how I get on.

Bambineos are meant to be high in the rise (only using them on 10wk old right now but will try one on DD tomorrow - she's 2 and potty trained, but is around 96cm, so I can see if they'd still fit her?!)

Ella's house hemp nappies also come up quite high - used these on DD. Tots too short IMO

bumbles!

whomovedmychocolate · 28/05/2007 08:27

So it seems to be bambineos or bumbles right?

Will go see if I can find some to try.

Thanks ladies

Ds is long in the rise and outgrew birth to potties by 51/2 6 months , we went into tots size 3 (he was out of those by 11 months) , size 3 nappy nations (he still fits those) , bumbles but we use a bumper now so maybe a bumper and fold it down at the front. And a button up 18mnths +, puddlenaps from puddlepants. XL or XXL cuddlebuns, toddler prefolds go for them and use the boy or poo catcher fold nippa'd closed. Ellas house are one of the worst builders bum offenders don't get one of them.

Good luck with your search.

Bambineo, fuzzis or onelife xxx

whomovedmychocolate · 28/05/2007 15:22

Ooh Kim thanks because I was looking at Ellas house this morning (like the idea of bamboo/hemp) but I'll avoid those.

harmony hemp from easy peasy.

ds is 10 months, huge bum and very long and they're still on the small baby poppers on him.

he had grown out of MEOS and loads of other nappies months ago but these still have loads of room to grow.

am trying to amass my own collectionj at the minute and so far twinkle on the web or direct from easy peasy seem to be the best places to buy them

PinkTulips · 28/05/2007 15:29

pmsl, have just read through and saw bamboozles suggested as big nappies

ds grew out of them months ago and he's only 10 months!

If you want a pocket one, look at Mommys touch

Flame · 28/05/2007 17:01

Bambineos here too.

nappyzone · 28/05/2007 17:03

or wonderoos - birth to potty so on full size settign the rise would be quite high - they are 3 for 2 at moment too at nappyzone. Good luck
