been told we're entitled to free disposable nappies now but i've been reading up about them and now want reusable. i've just bought some for dd2 but couldn't afford any more for dd1. would i be able to get these free instead of the disposable?

she's 3 years old. she probably won't be potty trained for at least the next couple of years. also she's just been accepted to our local sn school's nursery do you think they'd be happy changing reusables or would i have to still get disposables just for nursery?

even if i can't get the reusables free i'll probably buy them myself within the next couple of months (it'll be another credit card job ). what nappies do you think would be better for her? she's at a push in size's 18months to 24 months clothes, weighs 25lb 2oz. she has a gastrostomy in and her nappy really does ballon throughout the night but we try not to disturb her if she's willing to sleep through as once she wakes up it gets really hard to get her to fall back to sleep.

TIA

I don't know about getting them free, but I know that your best bet would be to speak to some of the WAHM cloth nappy sellers (weenotions are lovely, as are minki)... Minki normal nappies are very bulky though so it may not be suitable for an older child iysiwm.

Most of them are happy to make custom orders in bigger sizes for SN children.

Saying that, looking at what size clothes she is in, size 2 bambineos should still fit her as she is so small. I am happy to send you one to try on her if you would like.

Nursery - again, I don't know much about SN, but I know most nurseries are willing to change cloth as long as they don't have to do anything bar remove the nappy and shove it in a bag.

I can ask around various makers for you if you would like?

thanks flame. we just ordered the bambineos for dd2 from you in size 2 so could try one on her for night time use. we also ordered motherease wraps in medium/large.

she still isn't walking yet but crawls really well. disposables leak sometimes when she's crawling so we've had to stick with her being in pampers active fit size 5 as these seem to be the best ones for her. i'm hoping to get a nappy that would accomadate her for crawling without leaking. the leaks come through the sides btw.

Ooooooh - you were the pinks & creams!

A nippa might give you a better fit around the legs if the popper ones aren't quite right - I will post a nappy nippa in with your boosters (I am sooo sorry about those ) so you can play with that too.

thanks flame. don't worry about the boosters they'll be here soon enough.

getting as much washing out the way so i can start washing the nappies as soon as they arrive on tuesday

had to buy our last pack of disposables for dd2, felt bad buying them but i know they're the last of them now.

my whole family thinks i've gone crazy switching over like this! although none of them babysit ever anyways so it's not like they'll be changing any nappies.

been looking at those nappies by minki you mentioned. the yoyo minki's look fab and as they are also a pull up when the time finally comes to potty train her these might be our best bet. i'd probably want to be using them in the day and using a bambineo at night. you mentioned they are a bit bulky though. as she doesn't walk do you think this would be a problem? also have you or anyone you know tried them? if so what do you think about them for leakages?

TIA

it says more abou tthem here

I think that yoyos are less bulky because they aren't fleece on the outside - the only real leaks issue would be if you put too much padding in them and the fleece inner sort of gets pushed against the outer because of it (does that make sense???) and wicks against the material.
