Sleep

I have a one year old, his sleep at night has been so up and down. He's usually such a great sleeper but he's gone from a whole week of laying in till 8am to now screaming once he gets put to bed until 9pm and up at 6am. I have tried cutting his naps to an hour in the morning and hour in the afternoon but still he won't sleep any longer. He use to sleep 2 hours in the morning and an hour and a half in afternoon. Anyone have any advice on what I should be doing?😂 first time mum here!

At that age I switched from 2 naps to one long after lunch nap. How does he get to sleep? Mine both liked a blanket to stroke/bear to cuddle at that age.

@TooMinty I am trying to do that 😄 with him being up at 6/7 he can't make it until after lunch that's the struggle. My life would be easier if he'd have a long afternoon nap. He usually just falls asleep straight away or with white noise

Smileyeah the transition is difficult - DS2 has actually fallen asleep face down in his lunch more than once! What about an early lunch/substantial snack for the wee one at about 11am and you get a nice peaceful lunch while he naps? I also did quite early bedtimes at this stage, especially for DS2. Any time after 6pm if he was grumpy!

@TooMinty thank you for the advice :) I will give it who, some days I can get away with it. I tend to give him lunch about 12/half 12. I always feel 6pm is so early and I feel bad. I'm a nightmare haha and I don't get home till 7 so want to see him

With DS1 I used to keep him up til 7:30 so he could see his dad after work but it just made things hard for me! I think they need about 12 hours at night at that age so if they won't sleep in past 6am then it's early to bed (strict mum!)
