So what girly things does your DS like?

Mine is 4 and is a huge fan of:

Dora the Explorer (very annoyed that I refuse to buy the pink and purple pyjamas)

The Little Mermaid (even has the doll - DH was most relieved that the first thing DS did was take the doll's bra off )

Sparkly dresses - tells me he wants to wear THAT dress (hte one my friends DD wear - a Barbie "Princess" type thing.

but he wants to be a Fireman (phew).

My ds2 used to love dolls. he took them to bed and had a buggy to push them around in.

Why can't your DS have the dora pjs? Who is going to see them in bed!

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 26/05/2007 20:56

He loves toting my red handbag around and pirouetting in front of the mirror. Also like to dabble a bit with make-up.

He's 5!

Am weakening about a possible Dora duvet cover

DS got into my make up bag this evening and plastered his face with lipstick. He added a necklace and the make over was complete. As he told me "I look beeyoootiful Mummy".

Marylin Monroe (Warhol print above his bed).

Princess dresses. (Several)

Long red wig.

Wonder Woman DVD. Craves the outfit.

He is 5 and wants to design dresses. Hooray!

ruddynorah · 26/05/2007 21:01

nice to see a hurrah there spider rather than a phew i have to say! such a shame when boys are stifled i think.

FlossALump · 26/05/2007 21:01

DS has a collection of man bags.

akaJamiesMum · 26/05/2007 21:04

...ah but you don't have my Father-in Law RN. He totally does not get anyone being gay. A shame really as DS God father is gay.

ds (21months) likes to play with his sisters' dolls, he likes handbags, he loves to dance, he also loves dora and wears his sister's pyjamas every time she is asleep before him and he can get away with it

He loves to dance and sing

The main argument in our house is who is going to get to push the doll's pram, and who gets to push the doll's pushchair.

The only colour he knows is pink.

But his absolute all time favourite is:

Bob the Builder

mummytosteven · 26/05/2007 21:04

Dora, and my little ponies. oh and Peppa Pig.

ds1 loves ABBA and will cheerfully sing "gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight" to anyone who'll listen (though he will also just as cheerfully sing a song about muck spreading too )

Mercy · 26/05/2007 21:07

ruddynorah - completely agree!

ds is 3 and likes wearing jewellery, especially bracelets

ditto any kind of cream on his face, especially some sparkly stuff that dd was given

What on earth are man bags? [intrigued]

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 26/05/2007 21:08

DS1 is 4 next week. He has sisters of 2.5yo & 5.5yo. If they dress up as princesses, so does he. He looks particularly damn good in the Snow White dress.

He'll play dolls/babies etc with the girls too.

He likes scuffling about in my high heels.

He went to pre-school with sprayed pink hair.

His best friend is a girl - but they hold hands a lot and she talks of marriage so it's not a very girly relationship!

Desiderata · 26/05/2007 21:08

Mine is 2.6 and likes pink, wearing my shoes, and flopping his wrist in a very camp manner.

That said, he's into diggers, Bob the Builder, getting disgustingly filthy, etc.

Mercy · 26/05/2007 21:09

Squonk, I ended up buying 3 toy buggies; one for dd, one for ds and a spare for friends!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 26/05/2007 21:09

Oh - and butterfly/fairy wings. He puts those on sometimes too!

akaJamiesMum · 26/05/2007 21:10

Have to say that DS looks fab in the Barbie Princess dress when he gets it away from friend's DD.

Hairdressing on his Girls World thing

fairy dresses, tutus, pink shoes, although I have noticed some hesitation about this lately and if dp is in the house, ds will only dress up in secret

jewellery especially cheap and sparkly

has a baby doll he breastfeeds and takes to bed

fryalot · 26/05/2007 21:12

mercy - am seriously considering buying another one, but not sure if I should let him have another pink one, and haven't found a more boyish one

fryalot · 26/05/2007 21:13

aww Franny, that's sad - would dp have a problem? or does ds just think he might?

foxinsocks · 26/05/2007 21:14

ds (at 5.5) has just grown out of his dress up in pink sparkly dresses phase.

in fact, they took photos of him on his first day of pre-school (age 3) and he had dressed up as a princess complete with tiara and sparkly wand. I thought dh was going to faint (especially as the pre-school staff had not batted an eyelid, bless them).

he loves dora and diego but I wouldn't say they were girly.

sauce · 26/05/2007 21:17

Dora, wearing my shoes, fiddling with make-up and dd's baby born. (he's 3.6) I think his attachment to dd's baby born is adorable!

FrannyandZooey · 26/05/2007 21:21

squonk dp doesn't care at all but I think he has laughed a couple of times. Just in a happy way, not in a poking fun way, but ds is definitely cottoning on that boys should not be doing certain things now. I feel sad for him, he's only 4

PinkTulips · 26/05/2007 21:23

ds is only 10 months but thanks to big sister is obsessed with her baby annabel doll (hugs it like mad with a big grin on his face), my little pony and has been known to sport a pink tutu on occasion.

luckily dp is very open minded and thinks it's cute, lol
