How much housework does your 10-16 year old do?

Currently watching wifeswap. One mother does all the housework, the other mother expects her kids to be able to care for themselves.

So how old are your children and what do you expect them to do?

how much does she do? = sod all

how much do I expect her to do? = keep her room tidy, help put the littlies' toys away, put the washing up away at least once a week, have a bath occasionally, not leave shoes lying around so we all trip over them. That's all really.

Ds1,13.5 has to feed,water and walk the dog and clean up dog poo from the garden.
Also keep his room tidy,hoover downstairs every evening and from top to bottom every weekend.
Also expect him to fetch things from the corner shop if asked and occasionally pick up ds2 from school.
Ds2,7.8 is responsible for keeping loo rolls topped up and general tidying.
Ds3,3.8 is expected to lay the table and help with tidying.

9 year old does nothing,well he takes his plate out and puts it in the sink.15 year old not much more,he does put dirty clothes in his linen basket, and 14 year old daughter,she keeps her room tidy and puts dirty washing in her linen basket.I dont expect them to do things for me,i enjoy doing it,if i need help,they will help,thats if they are in long enough to help me.9 year old been out all day,hes up the road having tea with family,believe he is absolutely filthy..

wow sugarfree your Ds1 is better trained than my ex ever was. How come your ds is capable of doing all that at 13 yet my ex couldn't manage it at 28?

DD, 10, has just begun to take an interest in hoovering her room, but still insists on dropping her clothes on the floor. I don't encourage them to help out around the house much as they've got too much else that I want them to do!

Mia,as a future MILX3(maybe,hopefully) I feel I have a duty to train them up now.
I just think it's really important that they get used to plenty of responsibility while they're young rather than going out into the world with the wit of a foetus.
Hence I don't chase up homework etc.I'm a Big Fan of benign neglect and learning from mistakes.

My ds brings in the coal and logs every night. Takes his plate and puts on d/washer. Keeps his room vaguely tidy, but certainly not as clean as the rest of the house.

I don't ask him to do much but occasionally will ask him for a hand and he does it without grumbling.

I know I should get him to do more,but hate being a nag.

My dd 12 keeps her room tidy and hoovers it. She also helps sometimes with general tidying and hoovering.

My ds 11 keeps his room tidy and hoovers he also helps with some general stuff and does odd man type chores when required and requested.

My dd 8 tidies our room when I ask her.

All three do drying up in turns and help in any way they can whenever they can with little things such as packing up shopping and carrying when we are out. They are all brilliant and help without being asked but I have been a single mum for two years now and they help because they dont want me doing everything myself.

Mine don't do enough. They take turns to make the dinner, and put away the weekly grocery shop, but other than that zero.

DS2 (17) is quite helpful with the baby but DS3 (15) doesn't even look after the dog he begged for
