nappy rash at nursery

DD2 is 16 months old, in nursery 2 days a week. We've been having an issue for the last month or so with recurrent nappy rash. I get it healed up Saturday to Wednesday, then she goes to nursery Thursday and comes home with nappy rash!
She's in cloth nappies which they use at nursery, they use the same amount of nappies as we'd use at home. Although I don't know obviously how quickly they change her when she's soiled. The only difference is they use pampers wipes whereas we use cloth wipes at home. However, they use the pampers wipes on her face too and she doesn't react to the wipes on her face so not sure that's the cause.
I just can't work out why she's coming home from nursery with nappy rash and how to tackle it. She's so so sore tonight, she was screaming in pain Sad

I would say it was definitely the wipes without a doubt - pampers wipes always brings up my son with a rash so we strictly use cotton and water. The skin around the genitals is much thinner than on the face.

Thanks for your reply. I'm sending her today with cloth wipes and hopefully they'll be ok with using that.

100% the wipes, we have the same issues with just about every wipe and it is the same and doesn’t give other areas of skin a rash. If you would prefer sending wipes, we use Aldi extra sensitive 99.6% water wipes, these have been amazing for my LO who had the worst nappy rash going but is now clear!

As well as changing the wipes could you also send her in with a barrier cream for them to use like sudocrem, or with metanium cream?

TookyClothespin · 06/07/2018 10:31

They use sudocrem, have done since day one at nursery.

Metanium cream was a godsend for us, my sister is a nurse and said sudocream can leave the skin quite wet still.

Metanium just makes it worse!

Coconut oil is good as a natural alternative

Thanks for the replies. A day at nursery with her normal cloth wipes and the nappy rash is so much better than yesterday! It has to be the wipes. Its not healed, but it is much less red and she's not screaming in pain.
