Conflict of interest

Afternoon,

My mother in-law is a teacher's assistant at my son's school. He will be going into year 2 in September, he will be 6.

She has never been a teacher's assistant in his year yet.

They have a very close relationship, too close in my view.

There is a possibility she could be his TA in September. I do not like the thought of that.

I think it would distract him, he may be treated differently, no other child has their grandmother teaching in class, a conflict of interest.

I am split up with my wife so this is a difficult subject, as she doesn't have a problem with it.

Should I raise my issue with the school and say I don't want it to happen?

I would speak to the head teacher in confidence. It would be usuals for her to be put in your son’s year.
