Cutting nails

Do you have any tips or tricks for how to cut your little ones nails? I have a toddler who won't sit still and only sleeps in his cot which makes it tricky for me to do them when he's sleeping - if I try and move him to do them he wakes up...

Please tell me what worked for you...

Can you take a side of his cot down? Does he sleep in the car at all?

For me it's done bent over the side of the cot with my phone torch on while he's asleep... sometimes I can get his hand through the bars and that saves my back.

To start with we used a nail file until it became impractical. You could clip yours in front of them. Show them on a doll (just pretend and make the clip noise yourself) and then ask to do one nail so they know it won't hurt, if they're happy for you to do another one keep going. We never force ours to have them clipped as don't want her to fear it, most of the time now she's happy to cooperate and let's me do it no trouble.

@FranticallyPeaceful the cot sides don't move annoyingly.

@NinaMarieP that sounds exactly like what I have to do! It's a military operation!

@Havetothink I might give that a go. I'm not sure he's old enough to understand yet but anything is worth a try!!
