My baby boy has started to sleep like this, when I move him he reverts back to this position is it dangerous?

So long as he can move himself and roll over he should be fine. His airway is clear.

NovaArt3mis · 04/07/2018 23:44

At 9 months I can't see a problem with it. He must be comfy and presumably is able to roll onto his back if he wanted to.
Guidelines say to put them down on their back, what they do after that is up to them!

That's how my daughter has slept since 6 months! X

Yes it's fine :) at 9m old, babies are able to move themselves if they want to get comfortable.

ComposeYourself · 04/07/2018 23:52

Yep absolutely fine and looks so cosy. Mine all slept like that from early on too.

Ots fine my lo sleeps in alsorts of poation like that now hes 11 month

Graphista · 05/07/2018 00:07

Loads of babies sleep in that position, he's old and able enough to move if necessary proven by your moving him he goes straight back to doing what he wants Grin

He's comfy he's sleeping he's fine.

Graphista · 05/07/2018 00:08

Only concern from pic - is there a wardrobe/drawers right to cot side? I'd move that.

GlitteryFluff · 05/07/2018 01:04

Graphista can I ask why you'd move that? Just we have the edge of a Kallax unit butted up to the bottom of 6month old DD's cot. She's still mainly in the crib in my room but does have naps in there. Thank you.

INeedNewShoes · 05/07/2018 01:16

DD is currently asleep in exactly the same position OP.

I'd be interested re the furniture arrangement too as DD's cot has the side of a chest of drawers right next to it on one side and another chest of drawers a foot from one end.

ijustwannadance · 05/07/2018 01:22

That's why there is a yoga position called 'child pose'! He looks comfy there.

ilovepixie · 05/07/2018 01:27

I slept like that when I was a baby, and I'll be 50 on Sunday so it hasn't done me any harm!

Graphista · 05/07/2018 06:26

Babies poking fingers through the cot rails, while standing/kneeling, finger gets trapped bent backwards.

Seen it happen a lot with this set up.

Not hugely dangerous but very painful for baby and can dislocate/break fingers RARELY.

I just wouldn't risk it myself.

StillNoClue · 05/07/2018 07:14

Just make sure there's no cot bumpers etc to get tangled in.

Ds slept like this from about 9 months. He could roll himself and evidently found it more comfy. He's nearly 2 and always sleeps like that.

roadrun · 05/07/2018 08:23

Thank you all very helpfull. Yes he does push his legs and arms through the rails so will move the cot away from the wardrobe. My other concern is he is starting to pull himself up and wobbly stand, if he did this in the cot he could possible flip himself out so will drop the base down again roughly is 600mm down next peg down is more like 900mm
