Is it normal for a five year old to say such violent things?

My five year son says really violent things sometimes. Today he was angry as I made him sit on a chair as he hit his little brother. He said he wished he was a blood sucker so that he could suck all the blood out of me and I would die. At other times he has given graphic descriptions of an arrow going into someone's eye and when it was pulled the eye came out. There have been lots of other comments.
We don't have a tv, though he watches Peppa Pig or Thomas on You tube sometimes.

He must pick this up from nursery/school (he has been saying stuff like this since he was four).
I don't like it! Is it normal?
The weird thing is, he is really sensitive. We have tried other cbeebies on the ipad, but he finds some of them too frightening and won't watch them!

You say he is watching you tube- are you sure you are on the kid specific you tube? There are loads of really graphic and violent peppas and thomases on youtube now- some losers post them because they think it’s funny.

Hope you get some help soon OP

Mine is pretty morbid and gory. I was not dissimilar as a child. I don't think it is unusual provided that it is not obsessional and on topic. May be slightly concerning that he is threatening you though. Quite likely he has picked it up from nursery. My son picked up all kinds of horrible things at nursery.

No, its definitely not a gory Peppa Pig, and if an advert comes on he doesn't like as it is 'scary' he tells me straight away (the scary adverts aren't of gore or anything, they are just loud, with fast changing images).

It's not obsessional. Though he often wishes unpleasant outcomes for me when he is upset with me. Is that unusual?
