DS is almost 11 months old. For the last 2 months, whenever I lay him down to change a nappy or change clothing etc, he goes mental.

He’ll cry, scream, kick, scratch, roll over and try to crawl away.

It’s the most fustrating thing and I often find myself needing to leave the room after for a few minutes because of how worked up i’m getting. It also means poo goes absolutely everywhere because he refuses to stay still for even a second.

He doesnt do it for DP, but DP point blank refuses to ever help me out and only changes him while I’m at work.

What can I do?! I’ve tried giving him a toy to play with to distract him it just gets thrown at me. I’ve tried giving him water in a bottle and sometimes that works for a while but if i did this for every change he’d end up having way too much fluids.

At my wits end with this and I need advice!

Change him standing up. Pull ups make this easier.

Teething pain can be worse laying down.

Another vote for changing him standing up. Lean him against a sofa with things to occupy him.

Have phone facing other way and play Baby Shark!

So when he’s done a poo what do i do then? Surely if he’s stood up it’s gunna go everywhere??

I’ll give it a go!

My DS is like this, things I have tried to keep him laying down and have worked are a sock over each hand, some food in a little plastic box he can't open, my phone with ceebeebies. I tend take nappy off laying down, sit him on the potty for a few minutes then put the nappy back on standing up, holding onto a chair most of the time. I found pull ups worse because it was one leg in and one leg out constantly.

I can't take credit unfortunately! I saw someone else post it on Facebook!

I'll be doing it in a few months for sure!
