Anxiety in children - any classes to help?

Hi everyone.

My 7 year old DD is a very anxious little girl (probably stems from me as I, too, am very anxious).

My DD worries about everything that may or may not happen. She recently had a stomach bug and has since been fearful of being sick. She is very withdrawn and I am beating myself up about this as I don't always respond positively.

Does anyone know if there are classes where children can go to relax or learn how to calm themselves etc? Maybe meditation or something?

We got a book called 'What to do when you worry too much' and found it great for our anxious 8 year old. Loads of exercises to work through, talking about what they are worried about and how to deal with worries. Apart of anything else, knowing that there must be other kids out there just like her if they wrote a book about it, helped.

She also did a course of Relax Kids classes and I have downloaded a meditation app (Smiling Minds).

Thanks Jensner, I'll find a copy of that book. I may look at the Smiling Mind app, although I thought it was aimed mainly at adults. Thanks for sharing. x

There are various programmes to follow on the app and one is aimed at 7-9 year olds which is the one we do.
