I didn’t know it was this hard

I have a 4 yr old dd w/Down syndrome & 2 yr old dd typical- I live far away from family and being their mom is so challenging- I feel like I live with a whole nother species- I have to chase them to do anything, 4 year old is nonverbal & 2 yr old is starting to talk but I feel like I talk to a wall all the time. Even my own dog doesn’t listen! Theres nothing “fun” about this ...What happened & when does it change? Hearing other mums experience has helped a little. I don’t sit down to read much, and made an effort to investigate the root to my insanity.

Are you a lone parent ?
Parenting is hard, for lots and lots of parents, and of course not having anyone to share worries, decisions and yes, even just moans with must make it harder.
Do you work outside the home? It does seem like you are on a never ending treadmill with young dc.
Sometimes being a SAHP can be isolating though - you need to force yourself to join in with something sometimes, for your own sanity.

Have you joined any downs syndrome support groups ?
