Checking on baby when you go to bed

18 month old dreamy sleeper. I still have a video monitor on her but dont enter her room at all once she's gone to bed. Just interested as I had a debate on another site and apparently not checking on them 'in the flesh ' so to speak, makes me an awful mum!

My DC are 8 and 6 and I still check on them before I go to bed every night! I check their covers are comfortable, they're not too hot/cold etc.

DS 8 months gets checked on every few minutes as I'm going to sleep if he's (rarely) in his cot though as he's right next to me and its so unusual for him to not be waking up demanding to come in our bed that I worry something's wrong. Blush

Mine are 12 and 8 and I still check on them when I go to bed. Can't imagine not.

We do. I like to. We have a video monitor as well. We moved ds to his own room at 16 months, because i wanted him to get used to it before we put him in a toddler bed. I hated it though.

I always go in and check mine. Eldest is 17 now and usually still awake but I pop my head round and say goodnight. I can't imagine ever going to bed without 'checking the children'

No video monitor here.
I check on DD1 (aged 4). She has a projector light so I turn that off, cover her with her duvet again.
DD2 is in the same room so I give her a quick glance, but I know she'll have me up at some point!

We have video monitors on them both (age 3 and 8m) so I never go in unless I have to. Don’t want to risk waking them up!

CluelessMummy · 02/07/2018 02:40

No, I don't check on mine (20 months) and never have since she went into her own room at 6 months Blush She sleeps with the door closed as our cat had a habit of jumping into her cot and she'll wake at a pin drop (not to mention the creaky door opening) so it's absolutely not worth it.

SummerofDoom · 02/07/2018 02:41

I have a 5 and 3 yo. I check on them both every night when I go up. I straighten covers and check they're not too hot/cold and that they still have water in their cups by their beds. It's all preventative. The nights I don't pop in one or both are guaranteed to come trundling into my bed around 2am.

I'm 49.
My mum still checks on me when I stay over.
Don't be like my mum.
