aibu to think that a woman who didn't bother to check her child could breathe properly whilst being fed lacks all common sense. I was totally inexperienced when I had my child and still managed to feed her without a catastrophe! Cannot see why the NHS is to blame.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, but the midwives will always say “don’t worry, they’ll be able to breathe”, and even give speeches on how we shouldn’t worry because their noses are designed for it and in order to get a good latch we have to stop trying to move our boobs etc. It’s all true what they say though, however I can see how it could cause a massive issue.
I don’t know what it is you’re talking about, but I wouldn’t judge - I’m sure the mother is absolutely mortified, as are the nurses who advised her or didn’t. How very sad
