When to start sharing rooms

Hi. So I have a little girl who is just over 2.5 and due a little boy in August. The newborn will be in with us for at least the first 6 months but at some stage has to share a room on the smaller side of medium with his sister. My little girl has always slept well and us quite a deep sleeper. When did people move siblings into same room? Sooner or later. My LG is in a toddler bed. Thanks

Can't help, but interested to follow as we will have a similar situation.

There’s the same age gap between my two boys and they shared from when my youngest was about 8 months. I waited until he could settle himself-even though he didn’t sleep through. My eldest sleeps like a log, so never woke up when I went in to feed in the night.
They share a tiny room: 9ftx7ft, but are very happy in there together!

Mine went in together when youngest was 14 months and eldest was 3y 4m. Youngest did have a tendency to climb into bed with the eldest, which was sweet, apart from when he jumped on her head and woke her up!

They have their own rooms now but have "sleepovers" most nights by choice.

Our kids were just over 3 years apart. DD had slept in her own room since she was a few months old, DS moved in with her when he was 3 or 4 months old and she was 3.5. It was a small room, but could just fit a toddler bed on one side and a cot on the other.

DD was always a solid sleeper, and was never woken up by DS, or not for long, although night feeds continued about another 4-6 months after they roomed together.

They shared very happily but finally got their own rooms after we moved house and completed building work in October, aged 6 and 9.

Thanks for your replies. Made me feel much better that you generally haven't waiting a whole year just months. Let's hope it works like that for us lol
